7 de setembro

Well, folks, I'm reentering Blog World. Summer is over and Penélope and I are back to work, and so the blog must go on. We anticipate the fall with great trepidation because of what comes after....no, I will not say that "s" word.

Yesterday was 7 de setembro, Brazil's independence day. In honor of my beloved country I took out my flag and tried to be as Brazilian as I could. We had Brazilian coffee from Minas Gerais, my home state (for those interested, Christopher found it at Caribou. It's a seasonal blend called Poço Fundo) and crusty bread for breakfast. I also hooked my little flag to the window of my jeep and it flew proudly, eventually, humbly, as we drove around town. I say humbly because by the end of the day half of the flag had unraveled in the wind...

We finished it off by going over to Michael and Cari's for pasteis, a fried, Brazilian snack food...oh so good.

I took some pictures of my brasileirinha...they are all out of focus, but she still is so cute out of focus that I couldn't resist posting some of them...

AH, a Penélope é muito linda!!! Que legal seus momentos cívicos em plena América. Nós cantamos o hino nacional na igreja, no dia 07. Eu não aguento. Sinto aquele aperto no peito quando canto. Arrepios. Arte na sua melhor expressão. :)
